-The purpose of the Recycling
Ordinance is to establish rules for the implementation of recycling to:
·extend
the life of landfills
·conserve
natural resources
·salvage
materials for reprocessing
·conserve
energy
·improve
the environment
-The Ordinance outlines the mandatory separation of recyclable materials from garbage including:
·lead
acid batteries
·major
appliances
·waste
oil
·yard
waste
·aluminum
containers
·cardboard
·glass
containers
·magazines
·newspaper
·office
paper
·#1
and #2 plastic containers
·steel
and bi-metal containers
·waste
tires
-The Ordinance applies to
municipalities where Chippewa County has been designated as the Responsible
Unit.
-Local municipalities shall establish
a system of regularly scheduled collections and/or establish drop-off centers.
-Chippewa County shall
respond to all complaints regarding violations of the recycling ordinance.
-Reports of violations to the
Recycling Ordinance can be reported to the Recycling Office at 726-7999.
