CHIPPEWA COUNTY
LAND & WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN

Chippewa County is now in the process of updating the Chippewa County Land and Water Resource Management Plan.  The plan was initially developed in the Year 1999, and serves as a program guide for local conservation efforts.

Wis. Stats., Chapter 92 requires each County to prepare a land and water plan.  The plan must meet requirements of Wis. Stats., 92.06, and additional guidelines established by the Wis. Land and Water Conservation Board.

To date, the Land Conservation Committee has completed a planning process following procedures for public participation and plan development established in Wis. Stats. 92.10.

The County has submitted the plan for State agency review.  Based on this agency review, the Wis. Land and Water Board has formally considered and approved the plan.  On September 14, 2004, the County Board considered the plan, and after floor discussion, referred the plan back to Committee.

The Land Conservation Committee has now amended the plan to address points of concern and has added several notes of clarification.  The Committee will resubmit the plan to the County Board for consideration in the Spring of 2005.

Public questions or comments regarding the plan are encouraged and should be forwarded before March 1, 2005, to the Chippewa County Land Conservation Department.

A summary of Land Conservation Committee and Citizen Advisory Committee discussions, including specific plan amendments and points of clarification, are outlined in Committee minutes, dated 11/4/04, 11/18/04, and 12/16/04, available under Meetings and Notices at this website.
