Grants for Land Conservation and Habitat Improvement

 

 

Financial incentives are offered to help cover costs of land conservation and wildlife habitat improvement in Chippewa County.

USED TO:

 

Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP)

 

·Cropland and pastureland adjacent streams and wetlands.

 

15 yrs or permanent

 

Annual rental plus lump sum retirement incentive

 

·Establish permanent buffers for water quality and wildlife habitat.

 

Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)

 

·Highly erodible cropland and pastureland adjacent streams and wetlands.

 

10-15 yrs

 

Annual rental

 

·Remove marginal fields from crop production.

 

Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP)

 

·Farmed wetlands converted to agricultural use prior.  (Wetland must be restorable and suitable for wildlife benefits.)

 

10 yrs, 30 yrs, or permanent

 

Annual rental rates plus lump sum retirement incentive

 

·Restore wetlands as shallow wildlife ponds.
