Land Conservation Committee
Roles and Responsibilities
1.
Review land, water, and resource related issues as they affect Chippewa County.
Develop public policies to guide the use, development, conservation, and management of land and water resources.
2.
Develop and actively maintain environmental performance standards and
associated technical standards as a basis for County programs and ordinances to manage land and water related resources.
3.
Develop and actively maintain land, water, and resource related inventories as
needed to monitor land use, water quality, and management of natural resources.
4.
Provide planning, technical, and engineering assistance to landowners, local
units of government, and county committees having responsibility for land and resource management.
5.
Administer County recycling program and carry out responsibility of Responsible
Unit under WI Stats. 159, and County Recycling Ordinance.
6.
Administer state resource management programs within statutory authorities of
WI Stats., Chapter 91 and 92, WI Stats. 281, and associated and administrative codes NR120, NR243, NR151, and ATCP 50.
7.
Develop and submit to the Board an annual work load allocation plan. The annual
work plan is designed to:

Facilitate coordination among county committees with responsibility for land
and resource related programs (Land Conservation Committee; Zoning Committee; Agriculture and Extension Committee; County
Land, Forest, and Parks Committee; Economic Development Committee; Highway Committee; and Land Records Committee).
2.
Establish local resource management priorities and convey these priorities to state and federal
agencies having resource management responsibilities.
Facilitate coordination among resource management agencies as specified in local Memorandum of Understanding (Chippewa
County and USDA, NRCS, FSA, WI DNR, WI DATCP, UWEX).
