NR135 Reclamation
Ordinance
A
non metallic mining ordinance was adopted by Chippewa County in 2001 as
required by state law. The ordinance
affects active borrow sites to insure that gravel pits are systematically reclaimed
as part of ongoing operations. It
details reclamation standards and procedures.
The purpose of the ordinance is to protect property values and the tax
base, reduce safety hazards and protect natural resources.
The
reclamation standards require the following:
·strip and store top soil
·grade slopes
·re-apply top soil
·re-vegetate the site
The
ordinance requires the owners or operators of the site to develop and submit
for review:
A. Initial site map (Location of pit, topography, property boundaries,
roads and right of ways, structures, streams, wetlands, wells, groundwater
depths, utilities.)
Initial site
information (Owner, applicant, lease,
legal description, parties of interest, soil information.)
B. Site operations plan and description
C. Final site plan
Effective January 1, 2005, the fees for annual permit fees are as follows:
